What is a P-Shaped Rubber Seal?
P-shaped rubber seals (also referred to as “P-profile seals” or “P section seals”) are a simple way of saving energy and money by reducing heat loss and preventing drafts. P seal gaskets from Trim-Lok can be used in a variety of situations, particularly for sealing door frames and hinged windows.
Since our products are ozone and UV light resistant, Trim-Lok’s extruded rubber P seals can be used indoors, outdoors, and in extreme temperature and weather conditions. All our products are made in America using only the highest quality materials, meaning the P seals won’t crack or harden with time and can easily be cut to size.
Many believe that a seal’s hold increases with higher amounts of compression. However, Trim-Lok’s seals are designed to work best with a 25-40% compression of the bulb’s original height, with 25% being ideal. Compressing the seal more than this will negatively impact its lifespan and serviceability.
How do I use a P Seal Gasket?
As a proud manufacturer of extruded rubber seals, our selection of P section rubber seals are available in a variety of specially designed shapes, with several height and width variations available. P profile seals are ideal for hatch seals, door seals, and piping between the panels on cars and trucks.
Our extruded rubber P seals and P shaped door gaskets can be vulcanized to make frame or round endless gaskets and seals. Although we manufacture P seals in numerous sizes that are available off the shelf, custom sizes are available upon request.
Applying any Trim-Lok extruded P-profile rubber seal is easy:
- 1. Clean the application area with a solution of one-part isopropyl alcohol and one-part water. Only use a new, clean cloth to clean and dry the area, as a used cloth will introduce contaminants to the adhesive.
- 2. If your P Seal has adhesive, peel back a bit of the adhesive from the seal and begin applying. Only remove a bit of the adhesive backing at a time, so the adhesive remains covered as long as possible.
- 3. After the full seal is applied, go over it with your hands or a rubber roller to ensure even adhesion.
Our advanced manufacturing technology helps us fulfill orders of any size, and our strict quality checks ensure you’ll be receiving a high-quality product directly from Trim-Lok.
