Tips for How to Measure & Select Rubber Trim Seal

Trim-Lok offers the widest variety of trim seals and edge trim products on the market today. Learn how to accurately measure for and select the correct trim seal for your application.

  1. Measure the distance between the door and the jam:
    a. Place modeling clay in the four corners of the jamb and close the door. This will compress the clay.
    b. Take calipers and insert them into the clay at each of the four corners of the jamb.
  2. Add the depth of the clay of each of the four corners.
  3. Divide by 4 to find the closed jam dimension.
  4. Take that number and add 25–50%.
    a. This will give you the bulb size you need. It doesn’t need to be exact (just close).
    b. Our bulbs are designed to work best at 25–50% compression of the original height
